Mr. Billy Parker was born on April 8, 1942 to Clyde & Rena Parker in Birmingham, AL. He peacefully departed on August 14, 2019 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. He was preceded by his father Clyde Parker Sr., mother Rena Parker, brother Namon Parker, sisters Ida Jones & Betty Thomas.
He graduated from Ruby Yancy High School in Ashville, AL in 1965. His career started in 1965 when he enrolled in Gadsden State Technical School to take up electronics. He found out the trade he thought was his passion wasn’t offered at the school, later to learn trades in tailoring, IBM, & auto mechanics. He opened a tailoring shop, “Parker Tailor Shop” on Third Street in Gadsden, AL in 1965. Despite having polio and being handicapped for more than 50 years, Parker said he has been dedicated to his work and has conquered his problems. At the age of 65 retired to take a rest and go on the long-awaited vacation he never has had. He really has enjoyed the challenge of striving for perfection and is grateful he has not had any known dissatisfied customers in his 43 years in service., Parker said he believes he is leaving his business in capable hands. Mrs. Mary is the owner of the shop. He has participated in travel wheelchair basketball as well as leading multiple baseball, softball, and basketball teams, winning tournaments & championships across the state. He was also a great
leader, coach, mentor, and teacher.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife, Mrs. Theresa A. Parker, married for 47 years. He leaves two daughters, Tinly(Barry) Henry, of Madison, AL & Tinnesha Parker, of Ashville, AL; a god-son, Norris (Cynthia) Whisenant of Montgomery, AL; god-daughter, Tytiana (Iyana) Looney, of Rainbow City; two sisters, Linda (LC) Mitchell of Ragland, AL, Ethel Murray, of Ashville, AL; a brother, Clyde Parker of Ashville, AL; three grandkids, Elijah Johnson , Kenneth & Arkayla Bothwell all of Ashville, AL; sister-in-laws, Annie Montgomery, Clara (Stanley) Woods, Lisa Green, all of Gadsden, AL; a special niece Glorine Newton of Ashville, AL, & a host of nieces, nephews, & loving friends.
