Leroy Oatis III Obituary

Leroy Oatis III, born on May 28, 1977, in New Orleans,LA, was the fourth child of the late Mr. Leroy Oatis, Jr., and Mrs.Vanessa Diane Graves. Leroy received his formal education in the
Gadsden Public School System, where he earned his high school diploma from Litchfield High School, graduating with the class of 1995.

After graduating, Leroy went on to further his education by attending Snead State Community College on a baseball scholarship. He later transferred to Troy State University. Leroy loved helping children and was passionate about music. His smile and personality were bright enough to light up every room he was in.

Whether you knew Leroy for 30 years or 30 minutes, he had a positive impact on everyone he came in contact with.

Though physically gone from our presence, he will never be forgotten. Leroy was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, who was very active in the community. His hard work, dedication, and positive outlook on life will truly be missed.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Monique Oatis, and his grandfather, Howard Lewis.

He is survived by: his loving parents, Terry and Vanessa Hogg; two sisters, Staci Yvette Oatis and Jurea Diane Oatis; goddaughter, Jameisha Owens; great-aunts, Emmy Jean Woody of Springville, Jessie Mae Simmons of Mississippi, Gloria Kyle of Georgia, and Juliet Nelson; aunts, Ora Lee Nash of New Orleans, LA, Angela (Charles) Moore of Tennessee, Linda Hale, and Carolyn Muhammad; uncles, Willie Earl Oatis of New Orleans, Howard (Brenda) Lewis, and Glenn and Lyn Hogg; nieces, Markeyshia Burnett; nephews, Marquavius (Emily) Burnett, DeVonte’ Williams, Juwan Wilson, and Benjamin Carter; great-nephews, Myles, Warren, Tyler, Micah, and Josiah; great-nieces, Tyonna, Harmonie, and Viktoriah; special friends, Edward Taylor and Ernest Wallace; and the Litchfield Class of ‘95.
