Wendell Casey Obituary


Mr. Wendell Howard Casey, aged 67, of Attalla died Dec 13th 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Memorial service will be 2pm Dec 23rd at The Tabernacle with Rev. Tommy Marshall and Brother Dave Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm until time of service at the church.

Mr. Casey was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Oct 31st 1952 to Hobson Casey and Lurla Blanche Casey. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and brother who served his community as a police officer for Gadsden, Southside, and Attalla over the course of his lifetime. Wendell loved guns, gaming, and teaching others. All who knew him will remember his wit and personality and his many stories. He was a source of strength and stability for his family and friends and a shoulder to lean on for all. His favorite quotation was: "He's brought me this far, He'll see me the rest of the way."

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane Casey, their daughter Krystal Casey (and Jerad Orton), and his sisters Charlotte (and Warren) Wynn, Laura (and Tom) Gonnering, Evelyn Casey (and Carl Wright), Elise Casey, and brother Owen Casey. Brother-in-law Walter (and Debbie) Parker and Sisters-in-law Jane Parker, Patti (and Don) Pritchett, and Gina Brown as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Chosen brothers: Steve Daniel, Roy Harbin, J.D. Thomas, Marlon Lancaster, and Larry McNair. Chosen sisters: Mickey Wilburn, Teresa Kitchens, Donna Dail, and Grace Green. Chosen daughters: Yolanda McCurdy, Jan Wilburn, and Michelle Arrington.

For their excellent care and friendship during his illness, special thanks to: Encompass Health and Hospice: Shirley, Lisa, Brandon, Barbara, Tammy, Tonya, and Sharon. Caregivers: Lulu, Michelle, and Jamie. Also to Attalla Fire Stations 1 and 2. The family would to express our love and thanks to Calvin Osborn for his great generosity in our time of need.
